Associate Director, Medical Affairs, Communications & Publications
The Opportunity
Our client, a premier global biopharmaceutical organization, is seeking an Associate Director of Medical Communications & Publications (Solid Tumors). In this pivotal role, you will drive the strategy and execution of high-quality scientific publications and medical communication activities for assigned solid tumor assets.
As an integral member of the Global Medical Affairs team, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners in Clinical Development, Market Access, Biostatistics, and Commercial to bridge the gap between complex data and clinical practice. This is a hybrid role, requiring 2–3 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Lead the development and execution of a global medical communication plan, including abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and manuscripts.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive strategic publication planning meetings, anticipate risks, and adjust communication plans in response to the evolving healthcare and treatment landscape.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the internal expert on publication-related matters, ensuring high-quality analysis, interpretation, and disclosure of clinical data.
- Content Development: Create scientific content deliverables (e.g., scientific platforms, FAQs) and congress materials aligned with asset and therapeutic area strategies.
- Global Collaboration: Apply a global mindset to work effectively with stakeholders across diverse cultures and geographies.
- Innovation: Implement digital enhancements for publications to increase reach and engagement.
- Operations & Compliance: Manage annual budgets and agency partners; ensure all activities adhere to Good Publication Practices (GPP) and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications
- Education: Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, or MD) required.
- Certification: CMPP certification is highly desirable.
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant industry experience in medical writing or medical communications.
- Therapeutic Expertise: Strong background in Oncology is preferred, particularly within solid tumors or gynecologic oncology.
- Strategic Execution: Proven ability to navigate large, matrixed organizations and make sound decisions under tight timelines and ambiguity.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of GPP, ICMJE guidelines, clinical trial design, statistical methods, and data reporting.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence without authority.
- Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 20%).
Compensation & Benefits
The estimated base salary range for this position is $150,000.00 – $225,000.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and location. This role is also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including:
